I know, shredding doesn't sound like it has anything to do with SAVING at all, but it does. If you don't already have a shredder, I suggest you invest in one. It doesn't have to be a fancy shredder, just one that gets the job done. Why do I suggest this? One of the biggest problems we face today is Identity Theft and one way to SAVE your Identity is to shred. Shred anything that you no longer need that may contain your personal information such as your birth date, social security number, drivers license number, checking account information, credit card account numbers and the list goes on and on. I even shred mail that comes in that contains my full name and address.

Shredding? Yes, Shredding!
Do you throw away those pesky catalogs that come in without reading or checking them out first? You may be throwing away your personal information. Nowadays, catalogs will have an order form about middle ways through or at the end of the catalog, that already contains your name and address and now some already have a preapproved account or account number for you. What if that gets into the hands of the wrong person. You will then be stuck with a bill for items you never even saw to purchase. Take the time to sift through and pull those order forms out and shred them. Two minutes of your time and the price of that shredder is better than years of trying to get your life back.
What can you do with all those shreddings? I have a shredder that cross cuts fine sized pieces and I use them as cushion or to fill space when I am mailing packages. My husband has also started a compost in the back yard and he uses the paper to fill his compost pile, therefore no waste. That is how shredding can SAVE you.
